A backup battery is an essential component in every security system. A backup battery powers an alarm system for approximately eight hours, but Current Automation can offer you a system with 24-48 hour LONG back-up. In the event of an emergency (i.e. power outage, natural disaster), the backup battery is critical for a long-term safety as well as general peace of mind. Security system batteries last up to five years. It’s very rare for security system owners to replace their batteries more frequently than every three years.

The Adel- CBI485 DC UPS will be used on a mine to power their Cisco PWR-IE170W-PC-DC ( 170W- 54VDC/3.15A ) switches.

The Cisco switches have 2 power supply inputs ( Primary (1) and secondary (2) )

The Adel CBI485 DC UPS will be supplying the secondary input so when the Primary power supply fails, the Cisco switches will then be powered from the DC UPS.

This will ensure full redundancy of the system should either of the power inputs fail.
